Saying Goodbye To Summer

Saying goodbye to summer and hello to autumn…

Saying goodbye to summer and hello to autumn...

All that is on my mind right now is how summer is officially over today. The 22nd of September marks the first day of autumn. Summer literally came and went with a blink of an eye. I remember finishing uni in June and thinking to myself mentally how fast this summer was going to go. Jack and I were planning the weekends where we would be seeing each other as we live 200 miles apart, and I couldn’t help thinking ‘wow this will go fast’.

Whilst I am sad to see summer go – because let’s be honest we only had a couple of days of nice weather it felt a bit as if we missed a lot of summer. I am also looking forward to autumn. But I will miss the iced coffees to cool us down. The going to the beach. Normally I am quite a beach goer but the weather hasn’t been there for it a lot of the time – and also as I live in Devon, it has been a bit crowded with tourists so we have had to avoid the beaches a bit.

I will miss the meeting with friends and being able to sit outside. The BBQs because one of my favourite parts of the summer is getting the burgers on the BBQ. And I will also miss the summer drinks – Pimms we will see you next summer.

I have been feeling a bit sad about summer going. As I am writing this blog post I am in my bedroom working, whilst it is 27C outside. The one nice day of the year and I am working. You get that pang of British guilt of not being able to enjoy the nice weather when it’s finally here. That’s been the issue this summer, the nice weather has always been mid-week and not the weekends.

But whilst I love summer, and in January and February I am always longing for it, I am ready for autumn. The crisp autumnal mornings. The pumpkin spice lattes (yes I am that girl). Being able to wear layers because I always say autumn is always the best for fashion. And being able to enjoy the festivities such as bonfire night, the Christmas markets, then mine and jacks birthdays.

Beach trips and swimming in the sea will be swapped to beach trips and wellies and the biggest coats we own. We won’t be having BBQs but more Sunday roasts – to me Sunday roasts are an autumn/winter meal not a summer meal. I am dreaming of a very aesthetic autumn, but also one that is kind, stress free and with business booming.

So this is an official goodbye to summer, and hello to autumn. Let me know in the comments what you are looking forward to most about autumn. Or what you are sad to say goodbye to in summer!
