Last week, Jack and I had the pleasure to spend the week in London. This was our first little staycation together – one that has been postponed for the longest time thanks to covid. We decided to head to London because for us, especially me, London is not the usual stomping ground. I have only been to London a handful of times in my life so is very much a holiday to me. Whilst we were in London we stayed at the Tower Suites by Blue Orchid Hotel. We stayed for four nights (Monday to Friday) and it was quite possibly one of the best hotel finds we could have bagged. It was also one of the best affordable 5* hotel in central London we could find.
We booked back in April and we have both agreed we would definitely consider staying here again if we do another get away to London. I wanted to do a little blog post on it because it was a really good find and would really recommend it to anyone looking to spend some time in London with a little bit of luxury but for a really reasonable price.
Located at next to the Tower Hill tube station, we arrived at the hotel Monday morning, half expecting to leave our bags at the hotel, and check in later on in the day. However the room was already ready once we arrived so managed to check in early. I actually found this hotel on Tik Tok – and I couldn’t recommend searching on Tik Tok enough as several things from this holiday were found on Tik Tok and were a massive success.
The room was modern and chic and a really nice size considering we booked a standard suite. You can upgrade for a view of the Tower of London (which is right next door) but we chose not too. Despite that, we managed to get a view of the Shard and through the trees we could see Tower Bridge. We did mention that if we were to go again we probably would upgrade to get the view, however if you went during winter you would be able to see the sights through the trees. But we were lucky to get a room on that side of the hotel in the first place.
I loved the marble bathroom, and we both were impressed with the over head shower. It just felt like a luxury that added to the room. In each room you get your essentials of an iron and board, Nespresso machine, mini kitchenette, free WIFI, and living room area. The king sized bed also was blissful and the air conditioning was a life saver considering when we went London saw temperatures of 30C.
In the morning we had the option of continental breakfast which we had on our first day – the other days we chose to stay in the room to get an extra long lie in. But the breakfast was complete of fruit, pastries, cold meats, cheese, granola, yogurt and more. The entire spread! They also had an evening menu which you could eaten their restaurant or as room service. We didn’t get chance to check out the coffee bar or the Skyline Cocktail Bar however I have heard amazing things about them.
As we had a week full to the brim with plans we wanted a hotel that was accessible to get back to. As it is right next to the Tower Hill tube station, we had access to the Circle and District lines which took us to most places we wanted to get to. You also had the Shard, Borough Market, the Tower of London and the Sky Garden all within walking distance.
One of the best things about the hotel was the price. For a five star hotel in central London we paid £500 for the four nights. It was roughly £60 each per night and for a central London hotel, which you could get to any tourist attract or shop, it is an absolute bargain. We are definitely going to consider staying here again and would recommend to anyone thinking of doing a little London getaway!
