Let’s take a minute to talk about shaving. Whether you chose to shave or not, it is a bit of a taboo topic that shouldn’t really be a taboo topic. I have tried all sorts from different razor brands, epilating my legs (I didn’t stick to it because my pain threshold for that wasn’t the highest). I am yet to try waxing but with my sensitive skin over here, I get eczema so I don’t think it will be the kindest experience for my skin. So it is safe to say when Hey Estrid got in contact with me about doing a Hey Estrid razor review for them I jumped at the chance.
Hey Estrid is Scandiavian razor brand who have made cruelty free razors at a fair price. And at the same quality as men’s razor. I think one of the massive things for me when it comes to shaving is the quality. I trialled a fair share of high street razors which if I am being honest, just don’t work for me. But I find they go blunt very quickly and the soap/hydrating stripes dissolve within a few uses. I had previously seen Hey Estrid on Instagram as they had sent influencer who I follow the razor to try. But, those influencers genuinely raved about the razors, not just because they were #gifted.
So a while ago, before this blog post, I actually tried them myself. So when I was asked to do a review I thought this was really fitting as I genuinely have been testing their razors for a while now. But enough of the delaying you probably just want to know what I think of them don’t you?!
Well I have to admit they are absolutely amazing. I was skeptical I will admit. However they are probably the best razors I have tried and I am being genuine. The quality is amazing, they don’t feel cheap or flimsy. Quite the opposite in fact, they feel like they could last a life time. The handle is a heavy metal, not plastic and the five blade razor comes with hydrated strips made out of aloe vera and shea butter. They recommend replacing the head after 5-7 uses, and for me thats perfect. I am quite lucky in that my leg hair grows back blonde so I don’t shave too often. But they quality is so high you could definitely stretch that number out.
I think one of my biggest pet hates when it comes to shaving is the feeling of a razor being blunt, or just not flowing over my skin. But the Hey Estrid razor works really well. And it doesn’t aggravate the patches of eczema on my legs with is really important. I also want to make a quick note on the packaging. For a razor that only costs £7.95 (which comes with a wall holder and two blades as well as the razor), it is packaged beautifully and really well thought out with cards telling you how to look after the products and a manual.
The brand themselves also donate a proportion of the sale to their chosen charities. I just feel they are very inclusive with what they support and why they have chosen to make the razor the way they have. Four refillable cartridges are £9.95 and it’s done under a subscription. So whenever you need a top up you pay the £9.95 and it’s sent out to you with no fuss. And because of everything explained above, I don’t see myself going back to any other razor on the highstreet.
And this is not just for legs. Whether its the armpits, or your bikini line it’s effective (like SO effective) but also gentle. Which is what we all need really out of a razor. They come in some beautiful colours! I have both the ‘Cloud’ grey and the ‘Blossom’ pink, and my mum actually has the ‘Space’ purple razor.
You can find the subscription service for Hey Estrid here.
I’ve never heard of this brand before, but it sounds like a fantastic razor!!
