New Beauty Products That Will Help Control Your Breakouts

Here is a selection of new beauty products that I have found have been helping control my breakouts recently and why I recommend them…

Something I have been struggling with for the past couple of months is breakouts. I am fortunate that my skin has never really been an issue for me. And apart from the odd rogue hormonal spot I had always been pretty blessed by the skin gods. I had my speculation that at this time last year my skin would start breaking out as I was fairly new to coming off the pill. And I knew from research that after coming off the pill your skin can break out due to your hormones rebalancing themselves. But it never affected me massively. Fast forward a year though I am now having that issue.

Looking at it, it probably started in June 2020, where I had an outbreak of eczema around and on my eyes. I think this was due to stress, and I suffer from it anyway on my arms and hands. However this was the start of any skin issues. Then around late October time/November I started noticing breakouts. Initially I put it down to ‘maskne’ as I was having to wear my mask a lot too university. And I think this played a part but I also know it was due to stress and hormones. My breakouts have and are mainly around my chin and cheek area. Which is definitely more stress and hormone based areas.

Fast forward to now, I am still having the odd issue, however I feel like I am hopeful turning a corner (not that I want to jinx it or anything). I spoke to the amazing Donna Bartoli who is the queen of skincare on Instagram. She broke down my skincare routine and have me a few products to try. In short I was using too many and all the wrong products, and I had to simplifying my routine. My skin is sensitive so it made sense that my skin was breaking out as I was trying to put too many products on it in hope it would help. A vicious circle really. Paulas Choice Skin Perfecting BHA 2% Liquid Exfoliator

Let’s be honest if you haven’t heard the hype around this product yet where have you been? This is one of the most talked about skin care products of the year already and its only February. I have been struggling with my skin being a lot oilier than normal. This product is just a GEM in help break down that oil and declogging those pores. I saw a Tik Tok where a girl who’s skin was GLOWING said this was her secret skincare product so I am hoping this will create miracles.

When I first started using this, I found my skin became a bit sensitive to it. This is because as a new acid based product at 2% it can be strong if you haven’t used it before. So I started using it every other night as Donna recommends using products like this 3/4 times a week, and just on the areas that I find myself breaking out. Currently my main issue is scarring so I am helping that this will reduce break outs and improve my skins appearance. Directions on the website say to apply using a cotton pad. However I just apply it directly on the skin and blend with my fingers.

Foreo UFO 2 Device

I have always dreamed of using a Foreo product. In fact, ever since my friend Rosie and I were admiring the cleansing tools in Curry’s once. I was fortunate enough to get this product sent to me by Foreo to try out and honestly I was intrigued by it. This gadget really changes the skincare industry. Its ability to give yourself a high quality skin pamper all from a small device is incredible.

To use it, you can link it to your phone, select the mask that you have and then it will talk you through the whole facial. The facials are 90 seconds long and you can repeat them to get the full feel of the product. During the facial, depending on your mask, it releases different LED lights, temperatures and pulsations that leaves your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. I have been using the Matte Maniac masks for oily skin and it leaves my skin feeling so hydrated and luxurious.

Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Masquev

I find my skin gets really sensitive to some face masks that I use. However this mask really is the answer to my preys. This mask is cooling and hydrating so is good in the winter after being outside in the harsh weather, or in the summer when you have been in the sun. I love it because it contains hydraulic acid which is a perfect ingredient to go alongside the BHA exfoliator. It is also oil free so won’t be clogging those pores or increasing any oil production on the skin. I have also found it really helpful in reducing any blemish marks because it helps soothes irritated areas.
