It’s 2021 and it’s back to the usual grind. Whether that’s university, work or college we will soon be (or at least hopefully) going back to the cold morning commute, or even the cold walks. Because let’s be honest this weather is just downright cold! But there is a new coat on the scene which you will be seeing more of. They became popular, especially on Zara, during the autumn, and it won’t be the last of them. The quilted coat has only just started really.
They are a bit of a throwback coat. Very much releasing the grown-up aesthetic mixed with the 60/70s thin quilted pattern, these coats have moved from thick duvet styles to a wearable and lightweight coat that still will keep you warm. They are breaking the puffer coat mold and the housecoat style of them makes them easy to throw on over any pair of jeans.
I picked this ASOS Design Hybrid Quilted Oversized Coat in Sage because I thought it was the perfect beginner’s coat for the quilted life. A combination of a chic wrap coat and quilted coat, alongside the hood, makes it even more practical. And this coat was WARM. But it’s also a gorgeous colour and very complimentary. It works well being styled with monochrome pieces like grey and black and it is just a chic addition to any wardrobe.
As mentioned quilted coats can just ooze that maturity and sophistication and also can be styled with anything. I chose a pair of coated leggings, and black boots, to make the coat the main attraction. However they work well with any pair of jeans, and because of their sophistication, they work well with more formal outfits too. I have left some more quilted coats below that might work well for your wardrobe. Let me know in the comments which you think would for you!

I absolutely adore that coat and the way that you styled it, Emily! Pieces that don’t require you to sacrifice fashion for function are always so essential, especially during the winter months.
