My 2020 Travel Wishlist #AD

*This post is in collaboration with Omio however all opinions are my own – seek disclaimer for more info*

My travel Wishlist basically included napping up those weekend breaks and getting me anywhere hot, hot, HOT.

I am very fortunate with where I live – to some degree. The beach is about a 20 minute drive away from my house, and the moors is literally five minute walk. I also have a 30 minute bus ride to uni every day (which means I live rent free eyyyy). If I want to go somewhere a bit nicer then Exeter is about a 45 minute drive or 40 minute train trip. Pretty good right? Apart from the fact EVERYTHING fashion related is up in London – but we will deal with that another day. But all in all, we have a pretty good package here. However this girl needs a holiday, so that means it is time for a travel wishlist.

I haven’t actually been on holiday in about a year and a half. Boy oh boy I am feeling those holiday withdrawal symptoms. However living in Plymouth means there are a few easy links to France, or to the train lines which go directly to London. Orrrrr, a £20 bus ride from Bristol airports so I have no excuse. I am not really a last minute person. I like to have everything planned, and trust me I have few trips up my sleeves. Maybe a few weekend breaks, or one big holiday… who knows at this point. But what I do know is the places that I want to visit. And how I will be booking it…

Recently I have discovered such a handy website for booking my UK transport. This includes flights, buses, trains you name it. Omio can help you plan your trips and transport. You can get buses from London to Amsterdam for as little as £21. YES. Only TWENTY ONE POINDS. Doesn’t that sound a bargain? Omio can help you plan your trips and transport so that when it comes to going everything is all taken care of and is stress free. Last year, I took a bus up to London Fashion Week and it was reliable, easy and incredibly cheap. I will definitely be using Omio this year, because the cheaper the transport the more holidays right?

So I am going to get my arse in gear this year. Hopefully I will get some gorgeous holiday content, drink as my foreign wine as possible and get travelling. I mean I swear wine tastes better when you are on holiday.

CROATIA

In terms of deciding where to go this year, Croatia was a bit of a no brainer to me. Long time ‘Emily Clare’ followers will know I went to Croatia back in 2018 and I utterly fell in love with the place. I promised to go back in 2019 (spoiler alert – I didn’t) but this year will be the year *fingers crossed* that I go back. By far Croatia is one of the most beautiful countries that I have ever been too. And on the tourist side it wasn’t that busy either. So if you are looking for a holiday destination that isn’t flooded with tourists then this is a must.

Around every road, or corner or what not, you are left pretty gobsmacked by the views. Even when you are on the beach, you will have a cliff face right next to you. The scenery is by far the best part, however it is also a very welcoming country and the food is DEVINE. Split is one of the main tourists spots, and it is a lovely city, but I want to emphasise city. We stayed further out near a town called Omis. If I chose anywhere to go back it would be there because it had pretty much everything you would want.

NEW YORK

“It’s up to you, New York, New York” queue a little bit of Frank Sinatra. I wish I was one of those people fortunate to have witnessed New York in all its beauty but I haven’t – but I want to change that. I would actually quite like to witness it at Christmas or winter time. After reading Anna Newton’s New York Guide I have been left craving just getting on a flight and going over. She included everything from where to eat, what to do, where to stay so I am pretty much all set. I do love the hustle and bustle of a city, and I have never actually been on a specific city break before. I feel like I need to change that so what better way than to do that with a trip to New York??

EDINBURGH

Another one of my life long dreams (in my brisk 20 years) is a trip to Edinburgh over the Christmas period. Just give me all the Christmas markets! Again, from photos and reviews that I have scene it just looks like a stunning city. Cold and most likely rainy yes, however living in Devon and being accustomed to it, I can deal with that. So even though if I go I will be packing a considerable amount of thermal layers, I think it would be worth it. Edinburgh Castle would be high on my to-do list, as well as an extreme amount of shopping in all the little nooks and crannies of the city. But I would also like to see the Military Tattoo – which is only certain times of year so there will be a big planning and gin session involved with that.

AMSTERDAM

I like how I started the travel wishlist off saying ‘basically get me anywhere hot’ and everything on my travel wishlist bar Croatia is pretty cold. However there is something about going to Amsterdam, wrapped up in all the coats and scarfs as possible, and going around all the canals that really excites me. I would love to do all the stuff like the Anna Frank house, and the GO TO locations of the city. But I also think it would make a pretty perfect weekend break. But maybe that is one to plan with Omio?

I know quite a few people who have been to Croatia and have said how much they loved it there! I’d like to visit Edinburgh next year at some point, it seems like a lovely city! x

Last year, I finally got to cross New York off my bucket list – I spent an entire week in the city and I can’t wait to go back already! I would also love to see the other places you mentioned in this blog post, especially Amsterdam. The way we plan our holidays this year has definitely changed, but I hope you’ll get to visit all of the above sooner or later!

I am so jealous that you got to go to New York! This is such an ironic post looking back, haha! Little did I know we would go into lockdown and not be able to travel!
