This Is My Real Every Day Makeup

Here is the real deal everyday makeup routine I follow very single day…

This Is My Real Every Day Makeup

I feel like my every day makeup routine has always sort of had some sort of similarity in it, ever since I started wearing makeup. Of course the 14 year old Emily was a tad bit more makeup obsessed than the current Emily, but I have always gone for the more simpler every day makeup look. This has varied though. There was the thick eyeliner stage, the big bold bad ass brow stage, and the full coverage foundation every single day stage. I wouldn’t nowadays call it my every day makeup routine because 70% of the time I don’t actually wear makeup. But if I go out, go to uni, or anywhere casual this is what I wear. And for that 2% of occasions that you need a little bit more? Then I will through a little sparkly eye or pretty lipstick for good measure.

Pre-Base

I use the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA by The Ordinary as a pre foundation moisturiser because its really non-greasy and is good for when you are inna rush as it absorbs into the skin super quickly. Or if I want a bit of a glow I will use the Botanics All Bright Illuminating Radiance Balm. I kid you not this primer is the god most illuminating primer I have EVER used. You will be glowing all day and night with this!

Base

It is no hidden secret that my go to base is the Garnier Classic BB Cream. Natural, light and just gives you that bit of colour when you don’t want a full on foundation base. But when I go for a foundation I have a few up my sleeve that I pick from. It will be out of the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc (this in for winter months when I am less orange), the Ordinary Coverage Foundation (if you have never tried this then please do its one of my faves and super affordable) or the EX1 Cosmetics Invisiwear Liquid Foundation *gifted. I apply my base with a cheap makeup sponge that I picked up from Primark. I don’t know why but I have always been a sponge rather than a brush girl. The idea of hairs being left imprinted on my skin gives me the shivers.

The for concealer I usually reach for my beloved baby the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. This has always been my no1 because its hard for me to find a concealer that will properly cover up the shopping bags that sit underneath my eyes. But this has recently been taken over by the EX1 Cosmetics Delete Fluide Concealer *gifted. I apply both of these with a smaller and more dense sponge to make it look like I actually got the12 hours sleep I wish I had.

To set it all I use my Laura Mercier Transluscent Powder. HOLY GRAIL POWDER EVERYONE. I bought this back in April 2018. Yeah I know ages ago but it has last me that long. Literally I will forever use this, it keeps me nice and matte all day and just looks gorgeous and not too cakey on the skin.

Eyes + Brows

This step is pretty simple. It goes by the ruling of strong brow game and dramatic lashes. I have always been very particular about my brows. I have tried all sorts from gels, powders to pomades. My brows are thick, and not bushy, but I like to give them a bit more colour and definition – whilst still keeping them natural. So I use the NYX Tame + Frame Brow Pomade in Ash Brown. I apply this using a small angled brush just to fill my brows in where there are gaps. I never fill in the inner brow to make sure I get that natural gradient look. Not that 2014 block brow look.

I never wear false lashes so I always like to use a mascara that will give me some sort of natural yet ‘MY LASH GAME IS STRONG’ look. I don’t think I have ever used a mascara that I don’t like. But at the moment the one I am using it the Rimmel Wonder’Luxe Volume Mascara and I have to admit its lush.

Bronzer + Highlight

I would have include blusher in this section too, but every since I lost my gorgeous Zoeva blush I am too mortified to get another. – okay count lazy in there too – but it was very much a devastating heartbreak for me. I use the MUA Sunkissed Bronzer and buff that into my cheek bones and bring it slightly onto my forehead too. Then using a smaller denser fluffy brush I get that highlight popping. I flit between the 3INA 200 Highlight and 201 Highlighter. One is pink and the other is more gold so it depends what vibe I am in. But whichever one you have to glow big or glow home right? Okay SORRY I will stop with the puns.

My makeup routine has certainly changed over the years. I favour a more fresh skinned look now than even a few years ago. Funny how quickly tastes can change!
