The Essentials Edit: The Summer Wishlist

Just some ideas of how to spruce up your summer wardrobe…

So that new series I dropped recently?? The Essentials Edit?? Yeah well we are till going strong with it! I know I am actually maintaining something! So far it includes the Little Black Dress and the Oversized T-Shirt Dress. But I am now saying a big fat NO to any more clothing. Unless I see something that I ever so drastically need – there will be no more pennies spent on clothing. That includes no more sandals, or floral dress. I HAVE WHAT I NEED… well at least I think so.

However if I do decide to buy something, it would have to be some of these bad boys. We are still waiting for a bit of summer and a bit of heat in the UK so whilst we are waiting I thought I would still share some summer items that you can purchase. These will be essentials so if you don’t have anything like it, then it might be an investment piece… and we all love an investment not a rash buy!! But if I do find that there are holes in my wardrobe I will be adding these pieces…

Khaki Jacket

Living in the UK means that summer isn’t always hot and sunny and lush. It does rain, it does get a bit windy and sometimes you just need an extra light layer to keep you going. I have denim jackets coming out of my ears however I am loving the look of a Kharki jacket. I know that it is one of the colours that suits my skin tone so that is kind of my excuse… But its a casual option which you can dress with nearly anything. The white sandal and black jeans look? Yes. The throw on look when at the beach? Yes. Could it be used in autumn with a jumper? YES. There is a long line of t-shirts and trainers that this would work this and its a little different to the black and blue denim jackets in my wardrobe.

I think my favourite is this Topshop Longline Jacket, because you can wear it over jumpers, or on its own buttoned up, but I am telling you now Topshop have a few to choose from. They also have this Khaki Shacket which is slightly more cropped, and I can see this working really well on its own and some black or white jeans. Or if you are looking for something a bit higher end then The Kooples are doing this Khaki Cotton Rock-Style jacket and it has a zip on it too so is extra practical (plus its on sale!).

Casual Playsuit

There is one playsuit currently holding its place in my wardrobe which was a hand-me-down Henry Holland one. It is super lightweight and I love it for hotter days or wearing a long top underneath it. However it is very oversized and it has been in my wardrobe for years. As I am more of a trouser girl, than a skirt girl (gotta avoid that leg rub in the summer) jumpsuits are something I really need more of. A lot of jumpsuits though are more formal than casual, and I just want something that I can throw on day to day, no matter what the weather.

I was instantly drawn to this Free People Isla Utility Playsuit. Again its khaki (can you see a bit of a running theme here??). I just love the longer sleeves as its a bit different and its the perfect summer alternative to the trendy boiler suit. I never latched onto that trend so this is perfect to get me started. There is also this ASOS DESIGN Denim Collarless Button Through Playsuit. Apart from being a bit of a mouthful to say, I think it is gorgeous. The belt ties it in and gives it a bit of shape and it just looks dreamy.

Black Sandals

If you saw my Instagram post the other day (hint hint hint) you will know that I got some white sandals from Primark. They also featured in this outfit because I am a little bit obsessed with them – and their price because they were only £5. Um Yes you heard me right. And I am now very much feeling the whole sandals/mules game for this summer. Primark do have them in different colours – so I will most likely be heading back, however there are some alternatives too.

I searched high and low for some that I would genuinely consider buying, for example, I would be very willing to get these H&M Mules. They are made out of faux leather and have two buckles. I just think they look rather classy and will go with nearly every outfit – will guarantee you that. These Office Oslo 2 Sandals are also a good option if you are a fan of the buckle scenario. I think they look effortlessly gorgeous and they will most likely be super comfy.
