Shopping Trip To Birmingham

The sun (even though is rained most of the day) came out just for this photo hence why I look a bit like a squinting frog but oh well…! As you can tell from the title of this blog post, we went to Birmingham for a girly shopping trip! My mum and I are staying with my gran ATM and she lives about an hour away from Birmingham so we got the train there *which is a bit of a nightmare story TBH* but I really needed a bit of shopping time.

Where I live, the shops are alright but it’s very limited and samey so for me going to Birmingham was a huge eye opener. Even the train station had more choice of shops than my local shopping center!! It literally felt like and airport I was stunned!

So we got the 10:30 train to Worcester and then waited there for about 20 minutes for a connecting train to Birmingham. We pretty much got there about 12ish and wondered around for a bit. We went into TopShop and I was on a FAT mission. I had previously seen a red denim jacket in there which I love my red clothes, so I was going to buy it for myself. However I couldn’t find it but my Gran got me a cool striped top instead which will be perfect for Spring!

Then because I am a VIP Bills member, we went to Bills for lunch, and I had the amazing halloumi sticks (I think I have fallen in love with them) and the fish finger sandwich for lunch which I can safely say I enjoyed. We did have a trek to find it as the Bullring Shopping Center is just so big!

Then we went Selfridges… Now this to me is amazing… It like the same size of my local shopping center in a shopping center… I have been there once before so I was really excited to go back. Specially to the makeup bit. I have actually run out of my powder, foundation and concealer at the same time so I had a bit of a field day. I am planning to do a big haul, but I picked up a Laura Mercier Powder and a Nars foundation, whilst my gran got her makeup done at the Clinique counter and my mum got the Mac Velvet Teddy lipstick so she can stop stealing mine now!!

We then checked out some other shops (I can’t wait to go back and look at the ones we didn’t manage to look at) and we went to get the train back. Long story short we missed our connecting train at Worchester by about 30 seconds, and the next train wasn’t for an hour. So we waited for it but then it was delayed by half an hour… We literally could have driven from Birmingham to my house (2.5 hour journey) in the same time it took us to get back… Safe to say I was not pleased but we learnt our lesson not to trust the trains again.

Apart from that we had a good day and we all got some really nice bits and pieces!!

Whats your local shopping center like??

As a local Brummie I’m so chuffed that you like it! I like how much there is to shop in my city centre, with the only flaw being the Primark store which is soon to change with the giant one under construction. One of my goals this year is to check out as many of the local restaurants and cafés as I can because despite growing up here I don’t know much about the food scene! There’s so many amazing places to check out if you’re open to something new. X

  2. What’s the VIP bills membership all about then? Do tell please Anna x (one half of The Cinnamon Buns and Roses blog)
