Never ever would I put the words healthy and pizza in the same sentence. BUT I ONLY WENT AND DID. Holy moly indeed this pizza tasted as good as it looked and guess what… It was less than 400 calories! 400 CALORIES FOR PIZZA YES! It is probably actually less than 300 if you do the math exactly but who’s got time for that not meeeee! So I saw this pita bread pizza recipe on Instagram because hello 2018 = hello health and fitness Instagram accounts, and I decided to make my own twist on it with what I had in my cupboards. And it turns out it is actually a really healthy lunch idea.
I had to share this recipe with you because it would be criminal not to and this is my first original recipe too how exciting is that?! Obvs other people have probably done similar but I just chucked it all together really.
Makes: 1 | Prep Time: 2 mins | Cook Time 5 mins
What you shall need for this life changing pizza:
Are you ready to be amazed about how quick you can prep and cook this pizza? READY??
First…. put your oven on 180ºC/350ºF/Gas Mark 4 so it can preheat.
You want to take whatever tray you will be cooking your pizza on and either spray olive oil onto it (if you are lucky enough to have spray oil) or just add a little bit to a bit of kitchen roll and spread it around. It just stops the pizza from sticking onto the tray. You also want to add a bit onto the tortilla wrap – and when I say a bit a TINY bit. You don’t want to soak the thing.
Then pop your tortilla onto the tray and cut the garlic clove in half. Using the cut sides of the garlic, rub it onto the tortilla – it just gives it a bit of flavor. Also why I think about, I just wanted to mention, if you want to make it healthier, then like me you can use a whole meal tortilla wrap because its high in fibre.
Then as any other pizza, spread the passata or puree onto the, add the cheese and then whatever other toppings you wish to add. I went for the classic pepperoni and to make it look a little fresh and add a little green to the picture I used some rocket and mixed herbs.
It is really quick to cook so if you are in a rush then this is perfect and you can eat it on the go. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted. It is quite obvious when it is done though.
IT WAS AMAZING. And was also the right size for lunch. I am going to be making these allllll the time and I can’t wait to experiment with toppings etc…
What would your dream toppings be?!
